A message about school bus safety from the Sheriff’s Office

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says passing a school bus is a serious violation of the law, and is punishable by a fine of not less than $500 or more than $1,250.

(1) However, a fine of not less than $1,000 or more than $2,000 if the person is convicted of a second or subsequent offense of passing a school bus.

(2) Additionally, if a person causes serious bodily injury to another when passing a school bus is a Class A misdemeanor or a state jail felony if the person has been previously convicted under Subdivision. If a person is convicted of a second or subsequent offense under this section their license maybe suspended for not longer than six months.
