Scott Moore hopes Conroe ISD voters will reelect him to the board of trustees in the upcoming election in November. For four years, Moore has served on the board, during which time he was a member of the Audit and Investment Committee and has served on the Texas Association of School Boards Legislative Advisory Council and Legislative Committee.
Moore grew up in Montgomery County, has lived in the Conroe area for 27 years and graduated from Conroe ISD schools.
“Before running for the board, I served on every district committee on which a parent can serve. I served four years on the District Level Planning and Decision-Making Committee, the 2014 Attendance Boundary Committee, and the 2015 Facility Planning Committee. I have worked with state and federal legislators to address issues affecting public schools such as funding, accountability, security, and teacher recruitment and retention. Two of my three children graduated from Conroe ISD schools, and my third child is currently a student in Conroe ISD,” he said.
His wife is a CISD Instructional Coach and his mother is a retired CISD educator. Moore spent seven years as the Chaplain for the Conroe High School football team and is a frequent accompanist for elementary music groups. He has twice been chosen by fellow trustees to represent Conroe ISD at the Texas Association of School Boards Delegate Assembly where he worked with trustees from around the state to establish the Cornerstone Principles and Legislative Priorities for TASB.
“You will not find a more actively involved parent or candidate in this race. I have gained a reputation amongst citizens as being responsive to their concerns and communications, and I am known for not rushing into votes without gathering all available information and viewpoints. My endorsements include former CISD Superintendent, Dr. Don Stockton, several former CISD administrators and educators, Montgomery County elected officials, current and former CISD trustees, and prominent community leaders and education advocates,” Moore said.
During his time on the board, Moore has worked with district leaders to refinance and refund bond obligations, resulting in savings of over $178 million dollars to CISD taxpayers.
“I have worked with my fellow trustees to lower the CISD property tax rate for the last two consecutive years, thus reducing the tax burden on CISD residents. And, I will continue to fight for every student in Conroe ISD to see that every student receives the best possible education while still maintaining the highest level of stewardship of the taxpayers’ dollars,” he said.
