Help the Conroe Community Cemetery Restoration Project and Boy Scouts kick off our Fall clean up season at the Conroe Community Cemetery on Saturday October 10 and Sunday October 11, 2020 from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  The address is 439 N. 10th St., Conroe, Texas 77301.

We will have two large dumpsters provided free of charge by Waste Management through the efforts of Carson Pyle, who is completing his Eagle Scout Project.  We will be consolidating what has already been cleaned by raking debris, cutting stumps and hauling cut trees.

We will meet every two weeks after this to continue cleaning up the rest of the cemetery: Oct 24, Nov. 7, Nov. 21 and Dec. 5.

Due to Covid 19 Please bring a mask, your own water and lunch. We have 2 acres to work in so social distancing is not an issue. Family Units can work closely. A restroom will be available courtesy of Heritage Sanitation.

Wear long pants, long sleeves, gloves, sturdy shoes and a hat.  You will receive a brief training session before you begin and sign a waiver.  Because of the unique nature of the cemetery and the safety of our volunteers we will only use hand tools such as rakes, hand pruners and small tree saws.  We ask you to not cut any plants marked with an orange ribbon.  Black cemeteries have typically used plants, objects and offerings to mark graves. This may be our only evidence of a grave. If it’s disturbed, it is lost forever.  Don’t move any object since they may mark a grave.  As for Project Coordinator John Meredith to evaluate what you have found.

A special thanks to our sponsors: Montgomery County Historical Commission, Waste Management, Spirit of Texas Bank, Jeffery Moon & Associates, Arcs & Sparks, Heritage Sanitation and Integrity Landscaping.

Come out and support Carson Pyle’s Eagle Scout Project!
