North Montgomery County Fire Department Lieutenant Andrew Evans and North Montgomery County Fire Department Firefighter Allen Presswood participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, to honor firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
Lieutenant Evans and Firefighter Presswood did the 9/11 Stair Climb, in full firefighter gear, at Conroe High School’s Football Stadium on the afternoon of September 11.
“Today we’re honoring the 343 firemen who died on 9/11. They went all the way up 110 flights (of the World Trade Center). “We’re going to walk 55 bleachers; normally your flights are about 12 steps, and these are every bit of 30-plus, and so we just doubled it. We’re doing 55 sets of bleachers,” said Evans.
Evans said they were going to go to San Antonio, where they do a 9/11 Stair Climb at the Towers of America.
“Because of COVID-19, they shut it down, and made it a virtual event. I then took it upon myself to figure out the next best option, and this is the biggest set of stairs I could think of around me. We decided to come here, and knock it out and honor the firefighters,” said Evans.
Firefighter Allen Presswood.
“This is my second year being a firefighter, and this will be my first time doing the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. I’ve been wanting to do it to show respect to everybody who lost their lives,” said Presswood.
