Law Enforcement Charge Seven with Multiple Felonies

On Tuesday, July 21, 2020, the Houston Police Department’s Criminal Apprehension Team
contacted the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MOCONET) and requested assistance with an investigation. Deputies learned that two vehicles, a white Mitsubishi SUV and a silver Dodge Journey, that were involved in an ATM Burglary, were traveling from Indianapolis, Indiana to Houston.


Law enforcement vehicles from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety were deployed to U.S. Highway 59 in an attempt to locate the vehicles. Subsequently, both vehicles were located traveling south on US Highway 59.


Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office successfully stopped both suspect vehicles. The white Mitsubishi SUV stopped just south of FM 1314 on US Highway 59, and the occupants of this vehicle were identified as Jamontrell Seals, Darin Jones, and Barnard Mackey. The silver Dodge Journey was stopped at the Valero Gas Station located at 23543 State Highway 242 in Splendora. The occupants of this vehicle were identified as Melissa Gonzalez, Ralph Gray, Brandon Gonzalez and Julian Kegler.


Officials say that during the course of the investigation, an estimated $60,000.00 in United States Currency was located hidden within the two vehicles, and is believed to be the currency taken from the ATM machine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Additional evidence was also located inside both of the vehicles tying the suspects to the ATM burglary in Indianapolis.


As a result of the investigation, the suspects were charged with Money Laundering, which is a third degree felony, and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, which is a second degree felony. All were placed into custody for both offenses and transported to the Montgomery County Jail without incident.
