Conroe City Councilman Duane Ham, 49 of Conroe, was arrested on DWI charges, following a traffic stop the evening of Feb. 12. Captain Mike White with the Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office said Precinct Two Constable Deputy Jason Smith pulled over Ham on a traffic stop just before nine p.m. in the 300 block of South Loop 336 West. Upon approaching Ham, Deputy Smith noticed several signs of alleged intoxication, including the smell of alcohol on his breath.

White said Councilman Ham admitted to the deputy he had been drinking, and through a series of field sobriety tests administered at the scene, the deputy was able to show driving impairment.

White said Ham allegedly refused to provide a blood sample voluntarily, so County Court at Law 3 Judge Patrice McDonald issued a search warrant for a blood draw for evidence, and Ham was later booked into the Montgomery County Jail without incident on DWI charges.

The Sheriff’s Office said Ham’s bond was set at $600, and he bonded out the morning of Feb. 13.
