Lee Romero, an Assistant District Attorney with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Intake Division, was chosen as the February Employee of the Month for Montgomery County. Romero was recognized during the Commissioners Court regular meeting on Feb. 11.
“Lee Romero is our February employee of the month for all of Montgomery County, but he could be employee of the month for the District Attorney’s Office literally every day, said District Attorney Brett Ligon. Lee is at that important intersection from when officers believe that probable cause exists for the arrest of an offender, and the prosecutors on the judicial side making sure that we’re going to file charges. “Often times there’s a little tension between what an officers feels like is good enough and what a prosecutors feels like is good enough to proceed in court. “Lee is the one who makes the decision on probably 50 percent of all the cases that come through the District Attorney’s Office. Within law enforcement, Lee is a mountain of a man, but like a mountain, he’s got that longevity with the DA’s Office.”
Ligon said Romeo has been with the County for 15 years, and before that, he was a prosecutor in Del Rio.
