Montgomery County raises $27,000 for United Way

Montgomery County employees have helped raise money for the United Way since 1997.

The Commissioners Court received a report from the United Way of Greater Houston-Montgomery County at their Dec. 17 meeting.

The County raised $27,000 for United Way this year.

Michelle O’Rourke with the United Way said since 1997, Montgomery County has raised over $1.3 million for United Way.

At the Dec. 17 Commissioners Court meeting, trophies were handed out to County Departments that had raised the most money this year.

They were given to the following departments:

1.Ten or less employees-County Treasurer

County Treasurer Melanie Bush holding the trophy for department with ten or less employees, that raised the most money.

2. Eleven to 25 employees-Justice of the Peace Precinct 1

Candace Gilbert with the Montgomery County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, the department with 11 to 25 employees that raised the most money.

3.Twenty-six to 50 employees-County Attorney

Montgomery County Attorney B.D. Griffin holding the trophy for the department with 26 to 50 employees that raised the most money.

4. Fifty-one or more employees-District Attorney

Chris Smith with the District Attorney’s Office holding the trophy for the department with 51 or more employees that raised the most money.
