The Splendora ISD and its Police Department’s thoughts and prayers are with the family of fallen Nassau Bay police officer, Sergeant Kaila Sullivan. Sullivan was a 1995 Splendora High School graduate who had been serving in the Nassau Bay area for 16 years. Our condolences extend to the Nassau Bay Police Department and for all of those who knew Sullivan.

The Nassau Bay Police Department said shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, police officers made a traffic stop in the parking lot at an apartment complex on San Sebastian Court. The driver was found to be wanted on a warrant out of Harris County for assault on a family member. During the arrest, the suspect fought with officers and was able to break free and get back in the vehicle. The suspect then drove away, at some point striking Sergeant Sullivan with the vehicle. Sergeant Sullivan suffered injuries and EMS was called to the scene where CPR was started. Sullivan was transported by ambulance to HCA Houston Clear Lake Hospital where she passed away.
