The City of Conroe’s Tree Lighting ceremony started ten years ago in downtown Conroe. It takes place at Heritage Place. The Tree Lighting will be held Dec. 3 and the City’s annual Christmas Celebration will be held Dec. 14.
“At the tree lighting ceremony, we’ll have some Christmas carols prior to the lighting, and then we’ll have a short tree lighting ceremony, and the tree will be lit then for the rest of the season, said City of Conroe Recreation Coordinator for Special Events Elizabeth West.
Mike Cantu, City of Conroe Recreation Center Supervisor, said there is also Christmas on Main Street the night of Dec. 3.
“It’s not technically a city event. The city helps to facilitate the event, that is taking place downtown with the merchants from 7 to 8:30 p.m.,” said Cantu. There will be different activities for people to do. Once the tree lighting ceremony is over, we’re hoping that the crowd will go down to that event.”
Cantu said the crowd did last year, and it was very well attended.
“Many of them (merchants) are open, they decorate, and there’s different activities in Founders Plaza. There’s a concert with the Jazz Connection, Santa’s going to make a visit and there’s different activities for the kids to do,” said Cantu.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony begins at six p.m. on Dec. 3, at Heritage Place.
