Standoff in New Caney results in charges of deadly conduct.

On November 23 at about 1:40 am, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 23000 block of Majestic Forest in New Caney, in reference to a family violence in progress call. According to information provided to dispatch, an altercation allegedly occurred between a 26-year-old man identified as Colin Kitchens, and his family members. As the altercation escalated, Kitchens allegedly got a pistol, held it up in the general area of his own head, and fired a shot into the air. After Kitchens fired the shot, his family members fled to the front yard to await deputies. Sheriff’s Officials say Kitchens followed them shortly thereafter. When deputies arrived, the suspect retreated into and barricaded himself in the home.
After many hours of tireless effort by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Crisis Negotiators, Kitchens ultimately surrendered without incident. No injuries were sustained by deputies or the involved parties. Colin Kitchens is being charged with Deadly Conduct, and will be evaluated by mental health professionals.
