November is National Adoption Awareness Month. Montgomery County Commissioners approved a resolution at their Nov. 19 meeting, declaring Friday, Nov. 22, as Adoption Day in Montgomery County.
Child Protective Services Director Leshia Fisher read a resolution to Commissioners Court.
“In January of 2019, there were 29,927 children in foster care, in which 3300 were free for adoption. In Montgomery County, we currently have 81 children who are free for adoption, and we ask the County to recognize November as National Adoption Awareness Month,” Fisher said to the Court. On November 22, 2019, we will offer up to our court the adoption of the children of Montgomery County into loving, safe and nurturing families and homes. This is an opportunity for the County, for the City, for the State to recognize the work that President Gerald Ford put into in 1990, and declared that November is National Adoption Month.” During this month, I find it a privilege to work with our community partners, our counties, our non-profits, our churches and individuals as we recognize to support the children and families of this great community.”
Adoption Day is being held from 1:30 p.m. to three p.m. on Nov. 22 at the Montgomery County Courthouse, located at 301 North Main Street in Conroe.
