DPS still working on identifying victims in fatal head-on accident in Walker County

Four people were killed in Wednesday afternoon’s accident on Highway 75, south of Park Road 40, in Walker County.

DPS Sgt. Erik Burse told Bluebonnet News that authorities are continuing to work on identifying the victims because at the time of the accident, none of them were carrying any form of identification.

Burse said the only survivor in the accident remains in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

DPS Huntsville Trooper Floyd Garner told Bluebonnet News Wednesday night that a black four-door Ford was traveling south on Highway 75, and a white four-door Fusion was going north on 75.

Garner said the driver of the Ford, tried to pass in a no-passing zone, and was at the bottom of a hill. When the Ford got to the top of the hill, Garner said it hit the Fusion head-on.

Garner said three people in the Ford were killed, including the driver.

A fourth person in that vehicle was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in Houston. The driver of the Fusion was killed in the accident.
