On the morning of October 13, 2019, with her daughters by her side, Pauline Hilton of Conroe, Texas, passed away at the age of 88. Pauline was born in Trinity, Texas on June 14th, 1931 and moved to Houston with her family at the beginning of World War II. She has been a long time resident of Conroe, Texas. She was a supervisor in the cardiology department at the Methodist Hospital for 20 years and supervisor for 13 years at Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas. While at the Methodist Hospital, she was involved with the first heart and kidney transplant(s), and the first artificial heart implants. She served as National and Local Officer in ACTA (a Cardiology Association) and President of the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter of American Cardiology Technologist Association for 8 years.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Otis Whiddon; her father Joseph “Jody” Gibson Hilton in 1932; Stepfather Ira Jessie “Jake” Sheffield in 1975; her mother Lillian Mae Barnett Hilton Sheffield in 1997; and 3 brothers; Herman Hilton, Ira Jessie Sheffield, and Ira Warren Sheffield. She is survived by sisters Jean Sheffield Pitre and Linda Sheffield Moorhead; sister-In-law Robbie Maxwell Sheffield; Children Mary Nell Spivey – Davis and her Husband Rev. Roy Lynn Davis, Betty Lou Spivey – Tucker and her husband Dan Tucker, and Son James Paul Spivey – Lamb and his wife Luann Girard Lamb. Pauline is survived by 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors located at 1801 E. White Oak Terrace in Conroe, Texas 77304. A funeral service will be held at Metcalf Funeral Directors on Thursday, October 17, at 10 AM. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas. Please know that there will NOT be a funeral procession to the Magnolia Cemetery which is approximately 50 miles from the funeral home.
