Ohio man nabbed for child sex crimes after investigation by Montgomery County task force

Authorities say Jimmy Smith, 35, was sentenced to Life in Prison for seven felony offenses in Warrant County, Ohio. Smith was sentenced for one count of rape of a child under 13, two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, one count of endangering children, one count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and two counts of gross sexual imposition.

Detective Jerry Serratt with Montgomery County Constable’s Office Precinct 1 and the Montgomery County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce, began an investigation on March 11, 2019, on a subject that sent him images of child pornography.

The investigation led to the identification of two victims to whom Smith had access. Within 12 hours of receiving the images of child pornography, Serratt identified Smith and the children in the images, made contact with the local Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce in Ohio and Smith was successfully taken into custody. The two victims were recovered and received follow up care and treatment.

“Two little girls were saved in less than one day by the extraordinary and rapid investigation by Detective Serratt, Sergeant Weithofer and Detective Cooper with the Lebanon, Ohio Police Department,” said Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Laura Bond.
