Funeral Services for Virginia Mae Petroshus of Ft. Myers, Florida were held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in The Chapel with the Rev. Ray Hyden officiating. Mrs. Petroshus was born on May 23, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Axel Frederick Carlson and Celia (Campbell) Carlson. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the age of 90. Being with her family was what Virginia enjoyed most of all. Her kindness to all and sweet smile will be greatly missed. Virginia in a sense was ahead of her time in the respect that for many years she was employed by Clark Equipment company in Chicago, a woman doing a man’s job. In the late 1980’s she moved to Ft. Myers, Florida to enjoy her retirement. Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “Augie” Petroshus, her brother, Frederick Carlson and her sister, Irene Hickman. She is survived by her loving family: Daughter and son-in-law, Annabelle and George Henzler; Son and daughter-in-law, Richard S. and Pat Richardson; and Daughter and son-in-law, Pamela J. and Ronald Clair; Grandchildren, Kimberly Cantu, Julie A. Green, William Dennett, Craig Dennett, Carly Grant, Ronald J. Clair, Jr. and Lisa Mae Crowley; Great Grandchildren, Emily, Lyla, Dylan, Madeline, Logan, Caitlyn, Cecilia, Joseph, Aidan, Ella, Tyler, Andrew, Dylan, Axel, Gavin and Luke; and one great-great grandchild. Virginia was also adored by her extended family: stepchildren, Augie Petroshus, Jr. (deceased), Jeananne De Meis and husband, Vince De Meis (deceased), Joe and Janine Petroshus, Jim and Darlene Petroshus, Judy Mastin and husband, William Mastin (deceased), and Jeffrey Petroshus (deceased) and wife, Carol Petroshus. Many other step grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as, a host of other dear relatives and friends also survive.
