Viola Paul, 97, went to her heavenly home on October 4th, 2019 in Conroe, TX. Born on July 15, 1922, she was a daughter of Fredrick and Esther Olson.

Viola was born in a home birth, the 3rd of 6 siblings. She graduated from Little Falls High School and went on to Degile Beauty School in Minneapolis, MN. She accepted her first job in a hair salon in Benson, MN. It was in Benson at the Baptist Church that she met and later married Vincent Paul in 1943. They moved to Eagan, Illinois in 1947 and farmed for 10 years. In 1956 they moved back to Benson and owned a grain elevator for 12 years. Boulder, CO was the next move in 1968 where Vince managed a mobile home court and Vi sewed in a ski jacket factory. In 1982 they moved to Redwood Falls, MN to live with and near daughter, Karen, and her family. One more move to Boulder for 4 years and then retirement in MN at Karen’s Lake Florida home and Marj’s Duluth home. In 2005 Vi was widowed and split her year between Edinburg, TX, Conroe, TX and Duluth, MN. In 2009 Marj moved to Conroe, TX and Vi joined her in her residence full time.

Life was always an adventure for Vi and Vince. They made hundreds of friends in every move and were loved by many in all places. The spark that Vi brought into a room was a delight and admired by all and they all got a hug from her. Vi’s many talents included sewing all her life and teaching her daughters to sew. She produced dozens of quilts for family members. She started painting with oils at a Senior Center in Conroe and made dozens of paintings that she shared with family. She also enjoyed planting and tending our many flowerbeds. However, the most notable to us, she modeled her love of Jesus and displayed Christ’s hospitality to all. She entertained for Sunday Dinner almost every week. To be sure, Vi was an inspiration to her 4 children and 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and missed greatly. The void she leaves will heal but she will never be forgotten. Her love of God and her vigor for living was an example to us all.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Esther (Johnson) Olson and her husband, Vincent Walter Paul in November 29, 2005; her siblings: Robert Olson, Elaine (Bob) Kennedy, Edward Olson, and Richard Olson; 2 of her children: Barbara Carver in November 2018, and Fredrick Paul in December 2012; son-in-law, Larry Tilleskjor in 2007.

She leaves behind her sister: Beverly Ellefson (Plymouth, MN); 2 sister-in-laws: Lois Olson (Kansas City, KS) and Charlotte Olson (Silver Bay, MN); daughters: Karen (Robert) Peterson and Marjorie Tilleskjor (both of Conroe, TX); 11 Grandchildren: Toni Hadland, Robert (Kristine) Peterson, Merridee (Brian) Rodel (all from Conroe TX), Timothy Hokanson (Savage, MN), Jeff (Tracy) Hokanson (Erie, PA), Stephanie Laliberte (Minnetonka, MN), Richelle (Eric) Fraser (Roberts, WI), Jaclyn (Chris) Steep (Hudson, WI), Janna (Don) Witt (Wyndmere, ND), Alicia Paul and Jonathan (Amy) Paul (Fargo, ND); 23 Great-Grandchildren: Sam, Jack, Hannah, Jozy, Lilly, Maddox, Nathaniel, Ezekiel, Mabel, Bryce, Amelia, Gabrielle, Joel, Jared, Addison, Kaitlynn, Ethan, Myla, Jallison, Lucilia, Clayton, Finley and Blakley.
