Retha Joanne Todd, 84, of College Station, Texas, peacefully passed away on September 26th at her son Mike’s home in Montgomery, Texas.
Memorial services and a celebration of her life will be held in College Station at a time yet to be determined.
Retha was born in Tacoma, Washington to Grace and Lyle Bass on July 25, 1935. She married Jackie Lee Todd on December 27, 1952 in Tacoma. A graduate of the Paralegal Institute of McLean, Virginia, she worked for many years as an office manager for the Baltimore, Maryland YWCA, before retiring to College Station, Texas in 2003. Prior to settling down, she travelled the world as the spouse of a career Army Officer, and she kept the home fires burning during husband Jack’s two difficult combat tours in Vietnam.
Retha is preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Lyle Bass; her sister Lorna and her husband Leo Jones; and her husband Jackie Lee Todd.
Retha is survived by her son Michael and his wife Karla Todd of Montgomery, TX; daughter Patti and her husband Red McKennon of Kennewick, WA; son Jack and his wife Connie Todd of Plano, TX; her eight Grandchildren Lindsey, Kelly, Patrick, Katie, Jake, Shelby, Samantha and Jessie; her six Great-Grandchildren Maia, Casimir, Damian, Brody, Elizabeth and Rhys; and her niece Marcia Proffitt.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family suggests donations in her name to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or The Wounded Warrior Project.
