Jeffrey Steven Welch, Sr, age 66, passed away on September 22, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He was born on August 22, 1953 in Ablemarle, North Carolina.
Jeffrey was blessed with a large and loving family. He shared many stories of him and his family fishing, dancing and making home-made ice cream during family gatherings. Jeffrey attended North Stanley High School until his family relocated to Houston, Texas where he was graduated from North Shore High School in 1972.
Jeffrey married and was blessed with two daughters and three sons. He was kind hearted and soft spoken and always made time to listen to others and give hugs of encouragement and love. He was a hard-worker and enjoyed his career as a Corrections Officer for Harris County Adult Probation until he retired in 2006 due to his failing health. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his wife, Candice Welch; son, Jeffrey Steven Welch, Jr; grandson, Ryan Welch; parents, Betty and Richard Scott; and brother Jerry Scott. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Hoppe, Jannette Galindo, Richard Welch, Michael Welch; grandchildren, Johnny Scherer and wife Vonnie, Joshua Scherer and wife Elizabeth, Tyler Scherer, Ridge Smith, Josiah Galindo, Zachary Welch, Karlei Welch and Chloe Welch; great-grandchildren, Gavin Scherer, Declan Joe Scherer and Noah Scherer; and brothers, Thomas Welch, Jr and Gilbert Welch.
A graveside service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2019 in Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, Texas 77375.
