Stockton Junior High in the Conroe Independent School District, will open in August 2020. The school will be for grades 7-8, and is located at 2750 Excellence Avenue, between Beach Airport road (FM 3083) and Loop 336. The site is adjacent to Bozman Intermediate School.
District officials said an attendance boundary committee was established to study student growth in the affected area and to make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees for the attendance zones for the new school.
Officials said the committee will also be responsible for making recommendations for the possible rezoning of other schools, as well as evaluating possible solutions for crowded campuses.
The Board of Trustees Tuesday night will also consider accepting the Grand Oaks High School Construction project. Grand Oaks opened in August of 2018.
District officials said the board policy on facilities construction requires that projects valued at $1,000,000 or more be accepted by the Board before final payment can be made, and accounting for the project can be closed. The District certified the project as complete and took possession of the building on June 18 of last year.
District officials said the financial review yielded savings on the project in the amount of $3,633,474,13, and they anticipate making a final payment to the contractor, Durotech Inc., in the amount of $1,290,683,54 for the project.
The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees meeting is at six p.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 17, at the CISD Administration Building, located at 3205 West Davis Street, Conroe, TX. 77304.
