Splendora High School students in the Gifted and Talented Program recently went on a field trip to Big Rivers Waterpark and Adventures in New Caney, as part of the district’s “Spark” program. Spark is Splendora’s Pull-Off Approach to Relational Knowledge, that builds social and  emotional skills.

“For the first SPARK trip of the year, our goal was to help students get to know their GT peers, discuss self-talk  and overcome fear,” said Alexi Kabli, GT Coordinator. The students made “Rainy Day” affirmations, by attaching a page on their own backs.

Then they wrote affirmations to each other while not being able to see their affirmations. When they have a day that they need some extra affirmations, they can visit their mentor and pick up their “Rainy Day” affirmations.

Students were able to zipline, try out the ropes course and bond.
