The 13th Annual Wine and Music Festival is set for Sep.21st in downtown Montgomery.
Shannan Reid, director of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, said it was started by a group of businesses in town that were hosting some tasting rooms, and back in those days the Business Association in Montgomery wanted to have an attraction to bring folks to town that was a fun-natured event and centered around Texas wine and Texas music.
“It has evolved over the years; we’ve even had Cody Johnson before he was The Cody Johnson,” said Reid.
Reid added that Montgomery is the birthplace of the Texas flag, and so what better place to host an event featuring Texas wines and Texas music.
“Texas wine is just a growing industry and we see even some smaller wineries popping up, even in Montgomery County I’ve learned of several,” said Reid.
There’s a waiting list of wineries that want to participate in the Wine and Music festival. Sixteen Texas wines will be featured this year.
“We limit ours to 16 right now mainly because we want to make sure that the experience is a positive and just a full day for one person to experience the festival,” said Reid.
Some of the musicians performing at the festival this year include Sundance Head, who will be the headliner. In 2016, the Porter native was the winner of season 11 of “The Voice.”
Other musicians performing this year include Cody West and Sarah Grace and the Soul.
Reid says there will be plenty of food to enjoy as well, with some of the traditional food trucks and vendors, and they’re adding in a couple of new ones.
The Wine and Music Festival is Sep. 21, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. If you go online early, tickets can be purchased for $25, and that special runs through Sep. 20. That includes the first wine tasting package and an over-21 wrist band. Cost to buy a ticket the day of the event is $30.
