Anna Lou Swanson passed away peacefully on September 10, 2019 in Conroe, TX at the age of 95 surrounded by her loving family.She was born February 5, 1924 in Glen Rock, Wyoming to George A. and Nora Van Treeck. The family settled in Waukegan, Ill. In 1942 she married her childhood sweetheart, Carl A. Swanson, Jr.Anna Lou was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her favorite pastimes were spent vacationing in Mexico with her husband, reading, watching football and visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She knew the importance of education and was instrumental in making sure all of her grandchildren were prepared for college and even assisted with the application process.She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, TX and the Ladies Auxillary VFW.She and her husband relocated to Conroe, TX in 1982 to join their son, Carl, and his family. They assisted with the operation of the Swanson Ice Plant in the Conroe area for many years.She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Carl A. Swanson, Jr.; her parents; two brothers, George and Lawrence Van Treeck; 3 sisters, Mary, Myrtle and Patricia Van Treeck; and a great granddaughter, Madison Lee Swanson.Anna Lou is survived by her son, Carl A. Swanson, III, and wife, Charlotte of Conroe; grandsons James and wife, Kami, of La Plata, MD; Thomas of Houston; Jeffrey and wife, Olga, of Wichita Falls; Timothy and wife, Judi of Montgomery; John and wife, Christine, of Pasadena, CA; Paul and wife, Brandy, of L.A.; granddaughters Brenda and husband, Jamie Berry, of Montgomery; Tracy and husband, Nick Perez, of Conroe; as well as 20 great-grandchildren, Joshua Swanson, Kirsten & Lauren Swanson, Emily Swanson, Chance Smith, Ally Swanson, Katelyn Smith, Ella Swanson, Kylie Smith, Elizabeth and Victor Swanson, Victoria Lucien, Ethan Swanson, Elena, Marcus, Chloe, & Olivia Berry, and Andrew, Nina and Gabrielle Perez.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:00 am. Father Joseph Manapuram will officiate. Interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery beside her husband.In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church God’s Love Our Mission Fund or the Sacred Heart Annual Fund, 109 N.
